CamaroBen's Homepage, 2nd GEN Camaro's RULE!!!

Hey, I'm Ben Terwilliger, and this is my 5 minutes worth of Camaro stuff. For links to the best online parts distributors and some truly awesome CAMARO sites, visit my link's pages. More pics of my Camaro and engine work are on my MORE Ben stuff page. Here you will find a little about my 1979 Camaro and the modifications I have done to it.

My Cam'ro is a '79 coupe w/ a 350. Here I am sitting on the fender after I just bought it

You see the orange mess before, 305 heads, a sorry ass Holley intake(better than cast iron, but not by much)and the classic late 70's early 80's jungle of vaccumm hoses and sensor wires. I had owned the car for about 5 months at this point, and the biggest change I had done was DX the Quadrajunk for that Holley 750. It's vac, not a double pumper, but I do not experience lag or hesitation anywhere.

Click on any engine pic and goto my thumbs page of more engine work and stuff.

Here I am with a freind putting it back together with World Products heads, a new cam and an Edlebrock CBX3 intake. I dimpled my hood with the aircleaner post, and I had already cut it down to only 1.75"!!! Now it's barely over an inch long, which requires me to use a trick K&N drop base 14" chrome air cleaner. Looks good, though it's sucking HOT air right off the intake manifold. Also, look how nice it looks after a couple of cans of engine paint. Beware of spray paint rebuilds, this motor looked like a million bucks when the tired bearings gave up the goose(see below, BAD NEWS)

OK so maybe I'm a cheap bastard, but this exhaust ROCKS!! It cost me \$21 for the pipe(2.5"aluminized)$11.50 for the cutaways(see the zoomed view)$18.98 for the thrush mufflers. It's so freaking loud w/ that cam that I IDLE through the mall parking lot and set off alarms. Undo some wing nuts and look out, open exhaust a foot behind the headers. It will give you a head ache after a while.

One of my buddies, George Alford, telling me how much he wants his pic taken

The Camaro in action, the pic quality is poor b/c I captured it from video

This is the sound bite from the pics you see here. The neighbors were not pleased, I don't know why, it sounds good to me.[960K]Burn WAV

About me,

I am Ben Terwilliger, camaro enthusiast. I have always loved American muscle cars, even before I new the difference between front and rear wheel drive. Now I refer to imports and compacts as "wrong" wheel drive. I am an Army soldier stationed in Germany, previously stationed at Ft Bragg NC, 82nd AIRBORNE 1-325 A.I.R. My wife Amanda and I have two sons, Benjamin Hunter and Christopher Maxim. We've been married for over 2 years, at the time we tied the knot I was driving a 1967 ElCamino. I loved that car. I sold it to a freind(with my wife telling me not too)thinking I wasn't really getting rid of it, but he drove it cross the country to California. I now know what "sellers remorse" is.

Bad news, spun(or melted) bearing on the crank. Something is making WAY too much noise in there. I had the motor out, and I was planning on doing a cheap rebuild after I had the crank turned, but I ran out of time and had to come here to Germany. Now, instead of a cheap rebuild, I found a great deal on a short block, LarrysPerformance. So, I will have 9:1 comp w/ my 67cc heads, Hyper. pistons(good if I ever decide to use juice) and a bottom end that won't die on me if I spin it past 5500RPM.

I am learning web design as I do this, and will put up more and neater stuff, including links to cool stuff like rear gear caculator, 1/4mile ET predictor, and links to all the must see camaro sites. My goal is to have a pic or two of each camro ever made, and something to say about each year.Update: Check out the rest of my site, I have online calculators on my links pages, and I have swiped pics of every year of camaro and seperated them by GEN.

Hey fellow Camarophiles, if you like my site let me know!!! If any of you know me and want to tell me what a crappy job I've done TELL ME!!! As you know, we're here in Germany and always like to hear from people, even if it's strangers knocking this site. I am always looking to chat with other Camaro fanatics as well. If you know of a chat room where people get together everynow and then, let me know. I also have A.I.M. and MSN Messanger.
